While designing an air handling unit, it is important to consider the parameter of humidity. A range of 45% – 55% relative humidity level should be maintained for the comfort. At the times of summer or winter, the humidity level of the air goes down, causing discomfort to the occupants inside. This is where we find the importance of a humidifier in an AC system. The humidity of the air can be increased or decreased using humidifier or de- humidifiers. There are various types of humidifiers available such as, Spray Type humidifier, which got a header and spray nozzles that spray water with a pressure of 15 psi. Steam Grid Type Humidifier, which has holes on its pipe for steam distribution. The water is conditioned to avoid odor discharge to the room.
